In case you haven't noticed I have been missing in action for a little over a week. I just returned home from my 3rd mission trip to Nicaragua. I could write for days on the Blessings I receive when I am there or the lessons the Lord teaches me.
Some of the houses in the project area where we work.
I can never put into words just how blessed I feel on this trip. It is a funny thing traveling to another country to bless others but always knowing that we were the ones blessed by the experience. I have never in my life met people that are just overjoyed by what little they have. It is truly an experience that opens our eyes.
This was my 3rd trip to Nicaragua and leaving doesn't ever get easier. When you have worked with the same children, community, and families for 3 years it is so hard to say goodbye. I am always ready to see my family but if they were with me I am sure I could easily stay longer. One week just isn't enough. I always feel that there is more work to be done, needs to be met, and more families to bless.
The transition home is hard on me too (not going to dive into this subject too much today). You leave a country that has so very little and come home to America where we think that our lives are so tough. It is always a tough pill for me to swallow. You realize as Americans just how ungrateful we can be. When you see someone with a home made of plastic and cardboard with dirt floors and contaminated water yet praises God for all that they have........would we be singing songs of praise? My emotions always seem to bottom out the month after my return.....I have the inner struggle of getting back to reality, jumping back into work, and the need to remain grounded and keep on my spiritual high that I had for a week straight. Not loosing my focus and becoming the ungrateful American.
I hope you enjoyed my pictures. I love sharing them and will be posting more about the work that we do in Leon, Nicaragua in the weeks ahead. If you have any questions about mission work please feel free to send me an email. I would love to share with you.
I hope your day is blessed~
